Helen was initiated by the Beta Beta chapter at Michigan State University in February 1922. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, and went on to receive a master's in institution administration from Columbia University in New York.
Her career included positions as a dietician, food service manager and a nutritionist. She also served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
