What does the Board of Directors do?
Foundation Directors are Alpha Phi alumnae who serve as the stewards and fiduciaries of our donors’ generosity. Our role is to raise, manage, and grant funds to support the Foundation’s philanthropic goals each year, while building an endowment for the future of Alpha Phi. In so doing, we set policy, offer staff guidance, and ensure high value, yet prudent operations under relevant law, regulation, and non-profit best practices. The Board creates and oversees a three-year Strategic Plan with input from the Fraternity’s International Executive Board (IEB); donors; staff; and legal, financial, and fundraising advisors.

Do I have to be of a certain age or income level?
NO! The Foundation encourages all Alpha Phi Alumnae in good standing and of relevant background to consider applying for this volunteer position.

How do I know if I am a good fit for the Board?
You are an active alumna member of Alpha Phi in good standing, and a Foundation donor; you are passionate about our mission; you have experience on fundraising or philanthropic boards; you are a strategic thinker with leadership experience; you are confident reading and interpreting financial statements; and you are energetic about interacting with current and prospective donors.

What is the time commitment?
Directors of the Foundation have busy work, family, and volunteer lives! The time commitment includes a monthly video meeting (60-90 minutes plus preparation; quarterly in-person meetings; an annual Leadership Conference; and the Biennial Convention.
