Claire Costin

Claire is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Portland Pamplin School of Business and received her Ph.D. with a dissertation on the impact of social capital on earnings management. Her research focus is the intersection of social justice issues and accounting. Before becoming an academic, Claire worked in practice as a non-profit auditor and is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Claire is a member of UP’s inaugural Inclusive Teacher Scholars Consortium; she serves as a Confidential Advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence; and she was honored as the recipient of UP’s “Difference Maker” award in 2024. She is the Tau Chapter Advisor and has served in several other volunteer roles for the Fraternity, including Collegiate Chapter Administrator, ELI and Fellows facilitator, member of the Finance Standing Committee, and member of the Alumnae Task Force on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access.
