Join The Alpha Phi Foundation Board for 2024-2026!
Consider nominating yourself or a sister who will bring their passion for Alpha Phi, time, and talent to our volunteer Board of Directors!
What does the Foundation do?
The Foundation serves as the philanthropic partner to Alpha Phi Fraternity. We raise and grant money for multiple purposes, including:
• Leadership programming (e.g., Disney Institute)
• Annual Heart to Heart Grant for cutting-edge research on women’s heart health
• Forget-Me-Not Grants for sisters in need
• Scholarships for outstanding Alpha Phi graduate and undergraduate students
• Heritage preservation and special projects
What does the Board of Directors do?
The Board of Directors are Alpha Phis who steward Foundation donors’ generosity. We provide guidance and oversight to the Foundation staff. The Board creates and updates a three-year Strategic Plan with input from the Fraternity’s International Executive Board (IEB); donors; staff; legal and financial advisors; and the Greek community. Our role is to raise, manage, and grant funds to support Alpha Phi Foundation’s philanthropic goals each year, while building an endowment for the future of Alpha Phi.
Do I have to be of a certain age or income level?
NO! The Foundation encourages all Alpha Phi Alumnae, who are in good standing and are Foundation donors, to apply for a position on the Board of Directors.
What is the time commitment?
Directors of the Foundation have busy work, family and volunteer lives! The time commitment includes a monthly video meeting (60-90 minutes plus preparation), quarterly in-person meetings, an annual Leadership Conference, and the Biennial Convention. Directors also support one or more working teams or advisory groups.
How do I know if I am a good fit for the Board?
You are a member of Alpha Phi in good standing and a Foundation donor; you have some experience with fundraising or philanthropic boards; you are acquainted with financial statements; you are comfortable interacting with current and prospective donors.
Okay, I’m interested or would like to refer a candidate for the Board. Now what?
