Chapter Spotlight – Phi (Oklahoma)

This week’s Chapter Spotlight is on Phi (Oklahoma) who raised over $4,000 at their 3rd Annual Queso Competition! VP of Marketing Madison Cupples gives us the scoop.

Event Name: Queso Competition
Location: Alpha Phi house

How many times have you held this event before?

Tell us about your event:
More than 750 attendees from the OU community tasted over 21 different fraternity and sorority’s queso recipes. The queso was judged by members of OU’s baseball and basketball teams. Attendees listened to music provided by a DJ and took photos in a photo booth. Additional food was donated by local Mexican restaurants.

Who attended the event?
Greek community, athletic teams, other students.

What was your favorite part of the event?
Seeing all members of the Greek community come together and have a fun night at our house.

What tips and tricks would you share with other chapters holding a similar event?
Be sure you think about the little details – like extension cords to hook up to all of the Crock pots. It’s also key to have a back-up location in case of inclement weather, and to have a strong communication plan for the committee
