From the Heart: Kiley Kahler
Volunteering with Alpha Phi Foundation is one way our collegiate sisters live out Alpha Phi’s High Ideal of Generosity
Alpha Phi’s sixth annual Founders’ Day of Giving marked the return of Alpha Phi Foundation’s Collegiate Stewardship Volunteer program. For the program’s second year, twelve enthusiastic collegiate sisters joined the Foundation as key volunteers in the solicitation and stewardship of loyal Day of Giving donors. One of our volunteers–Kiley Kahler (Gamma Omicron–Drake)–left an exceptionally glowing impression.
Kiley’s philanthropic journey as an Alpha Phi began with her appointment as her chapter’s Red Dress Gala Co-Chair, and ultimately executing Gamma Omicron’s first fully virtual Red Dress Week, one that raised more than triple the funds than in years past. In having her leadership tested during these complex times, Kiley says she has “found (her) biggest fans and most trailblazing role models in Alpha Phi.”
For many, joining the fight to raise awareness and funds to combat heart disease is deeply personal. Kiley, much like numerous other sisters, has a personal tie to this cause. Her family history of heart disease, coupled with her love of fundraising, inspired her to volunteer with Alpha Phi Foundation. Through leading a heart-healthy lifestyle, spreading awareness by educating others, and supporting Alpha Phi Foundation, Kiley truly lives out what it means to lead with heart.
Kiley believes Leading With Heart is more than trying to raise funds for Alpha Phi Foundation–it’s an opportunity to celebrate the past of our sisterhood and ensure the future of our organization. The Alpha Phi experience has empowered Kiley to lead with heart by advocating for others and uplifting fellow women leaders.
When asked about her favorite part of volunteering on Founders’ Day of Giving, Kiley spoke to the creation of personalized videos that shared her gratitude for the Foundation’s generous Day of Giving donors who joined us in celebrating 149 years of sisterhood this October. “As a ‘words of affirmation’ person, nothing is better than a thank you note full of genuine gratitude.”
During her Founders’ Day of Giving phone-banking outreach, Kiley was surprised to find out how many alumnae she connected with wanted to learn more about her chapter and who she is as a person, sharing both information about Founders’ Day of Giving and celebrating Alpha Phi’s inter-generational sisterhood with these donors.
The efforts of our collegiate sisters volunteering to secure and steward donors who gave a meaningful gift in honor of 149 years of Alpha Phi, were instrumental in making the day a success. We are grateful to have volunteers and donors in sisters like Kiley, paving the way for the next generation of Alpha Phi leaders and philanthropists. Thank you!
Collegiate Stewardship Program
Collegiate Stewardship Volunteers assist in communicating with and creating stewardship content for Alpha Phi Foundation donors, particularly for Founders’ Day of Giving. These undergraduate volunteers make calls, send emails, and record thank you videos on behalf of Alpha Phi Foundation to assigned donors. Interested in volunteering as a collegian?
