Five Takeaways from Virtual Leadership Conference

Alpha Phi Foundation has the privilege of supporting our collegiate sisters’ membership experience as well as their philanthropic efforts. On January 29, 2022, over fifty Directors of Philanthropy had the opportunity to meet during Alpha Phi’s Appointed Officer Virtual Leadership Conference and learn best practices for planning their chapter’s philanthropy events.  

Here are five helpful takeaways for DOPs, Vice Presidents of Health, Wellness & Accountability, and Health, Wellness & Accountability Advisors to consider when planning your event.

Stuck on how to make an event work within campus guidelines? Join the DOP Facebook group to ask questions and brainstorm a solution with other DOPs. This is a great space to exchange ideas and support each other’s efforts. 

It is never too early to get started! 

If your chapter hosts primarily fall events now is the time to start looking at venues and narrowing down date options. It is best to find a date that does not conflict with set campus events to maximize community participation. For spring events, we recommend your team start planning during the Fall semester.

DO NOT USE VENMO

One more time – DO NOT USE VENMO. Venmo (and apps like it, i.e. Cash App) are unprotected, unreliable, and not supported by Alpha Phi Foundation or Alpha Phi International. All donations, ticket sales, raffles, and auctions can be run and collected through GiveSmart – a fundraising platform that collegiate and alumnae chapters have access to at no cost thanks to Alpha Phi Foundation!
