Alpha Phi Foundation is proud to recognize the 2021-2022 Foundation Scholars: 76 outstanding Alpha Phis whose academic excellence and achievements make us proud to count them as members of our sisterhood.

Through the generosity of Leading With Heart donors, we have been able to provide more members the opportunity to expand their academic pursuits and professional dreams, awarding a record $466,800 in academic scholarships to the women below. By investing in these sisters, we continue to fulfill our mission of advancing women’s lives through the power of philanthropy now and into the future.

“As a first-generation Mexican-American, navigating life was, and still is, an adventure. As an undergraduate and Master’s student at Cal State East Bay, I did not have the privilege of solely being a student. I often worked 30-40 hours a week on top of taking a full load of courses and conducting my own research. Thanks to the Alpha Phi Foundation, I will now be able to solely focus on school as I pursue my Ph.D. in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. This sisterhood has given me a network of support that I could have never imagined as the first person, and woman, in my family to pursue higher education. I am thankful for all of the sisters and advisors who have supported me throughout the years, I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Nancy Pitchforth Patton Scholarship

“When I first discovered Alpha Phi, I was drawn to the opportunity to help women care for their hearts, and when I learned about the impact of gender discrimination on women’s health, I knew I had to get involved. For the past three years, I have worked at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), where I assisted in the development of over a dozen policy guidance documents addressing topics such as health care access, racial and ethnic disparities, and complex family planning, among others. This fall, I will be attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, where I hope to study public interest, health care, and family law to achieve my goal of providing pro bono legal services for victims of violence. I will also continue to serve as the Health, Wellness, and Accountability Advisor for my collegiate chapter, Alpha Phi – Zeta Sigma. I am forever grateful for the impact Alpha Phi has had on my past, present, and future dreams and I hope to make my sisters proud.”

Scholarship Program

Through the generosity of Leading With Heart donors, Alpha Phi Foundation awarded over $466,000 in merit and need-based scholarships to graduate and undergraduate Alpha Phis for the 2021-2022 academic year.
