Sisters, friends, and the support they need

Lindsay Martin Poss (Beta Psi-San Jose State) is a part of a group of fiercely supportive Beta Psi sisters. You may recognize some of the women in this group of Beta Psi alumnae—many are volunteers and familiar Alpha Phi faces to collegians and alumnae alike. They know how to help a sister out.

When Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer, they didn’t hesitate to step up and do what they could. Together, they applied for a Forget Me Not Grant to help Melissa cover costs that she had never anticipated facing. The group knew they could count on Alpha Phi for the extra strength and support Melissa needed.

Lindsay and her Beta Psi sisters credit Watchcare and the skills they learned in college in helping them know how to support and rally around their sisters. The practice of consistent checking in and giving what you can on any given day; the phone trees and compassionate communication; and the willingness of sisters to come together in a time of need are all a part of being an Alpha Phi, a sister for life.

Now Melissa’s cancer is back. A second Forget Me Not Grant was able to provide the opportunity for a second opinion and further testing. While the journey may be tough, these Alpha Phis are ready to stand together to support Melissa in whatever comes her way.
