Meet the 2019-2020 Scholarship Recipients

by Alpha Phi Foundation in Impact

Alpha Phi Foundation scholarships unlock opportunities that help graduate and undergraduate Alpha Phis become leaders in their fields. This year, through the generosity of Alpha Phi alumnae and donors, over $340,000 was awarded to 70 Alpha Phis.

Together, we continue to encourage women scholars to reach higher and achieve more. We believe the knowledge and experiences they gain will maximize their lifelong impact in their industries and communities. The Foundation is proud to recognize the remarkable women who are our 2019-2020 scholarship recipients.

Having this financial assistance will allow me to pursue an LLM in Criminal Justice & Penal Change at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. This program will provide me an essential platform from which to develop my professional career where I will be able to redress issues of gendered violence and human rights abuses. I am grateful that I will not only be able to investigate the intersection of law, crime, and justice, but also apply what I learn from other nation’s legal systems to my future work in the US as a lawyer and eventual judge.

Courtney Liu will pursue an MFA in Dance at Duke University this Fall. Her thesis is inspired by her experience as a professional dancer/teacher (Phantom of the Opera Broadway Cast, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake) and will explore the connections between ballet education, body image, and weight.

Scholarship Program

Through the generosity of donors, Alpha Phi Foundation awarded over $340,000 in merit and need-based scholarships to graduate and undergraduate Alpha Phis for the 2019-2020 academic year. The 2020-2021 scholarship application will open December 1, 2019. Learn more about the Scholarship Program.
