Cue the Confetti… Alpha Phi Foundation turns 67 on April 15th!
On April 15, 1956, Alpha Phi Foundation received its nonprofit designation, making Alpha Phi one of the first women’s fraternal organizations to establish a foundation. Much has changed over the past 67 years, but of course one thing has remained the same – our commitment to advancing the lives of our sisters and of women everywhere!
Favorite Foundation Memories
Our Alpha Phi Foundation team has a birthday tradition to reflect on the past and look boldly into the future. Each year, we ask each team member to share their favorite Foundation memory from this past year!
Amy Peebles (Beta-Northwestern)
My favorite memory was at 2022 Convention watching Mary Beth Tully’s face as Rebecca Zanatta shared the news that Mary Beth had won the 2022 Outstanding Foundation Volunteer award from Foundation for Fraternal Excellence. It was a much deserved award!
Linda Schnetzer (Beta Omicron-Bowling Green)
Senior Director of Development
My favorite memory was seeing how proud our collegiate chapters were at Leadership Conference when they received awards for their fundraising success. Our chapter members are at the beginning of their philanthropic journeys and I can’t wait to see what these amazing women will accomplish!
Meghan Bradley (Zeta Alpha-Eastern Illinois)
Director of Operations & Events
My favorite memory was the Leading with Heart campaign close reveal at Convention. It was such an incredible moment! I felt proud to recognize the generosity of our donors and the passionate women that made it all happen.
Katherine Sopp (Eta Lambda-George Mason)
Major Gifts Officer
My favorite Foundation memory from the last year is experiencing the Leading With Heart celebration dinner and reveal. Our team, the Board of Directors, Campaign Steering Committee, and donors dedicated so much time and passion to Leading With Heart and ensuring a strong future for Alpha Phi. Those in the room were truly living a monumental moment in our sisterhood’s history. A moment that was purely focused on celebrating – and thanking – those who came before us and promising a strong future for the Alpha Phi’s yet to come.
Major Gifts Officer
My favorite Alpha Phi Foundation memory was celebrating 150 years of sisterhood, as well as the success of our Leading With Heart campaign at Alpha Phi’s 73rd Biennial Convention this past summer!
Katie Gates (Beta Upsilon-Oregon State)
Marketing and Communications Manager
Aside from joining the Foundation staff and meeting everyone in person for the first time during our December meetings, the overall experience of fully reconnecting with Alpha Phi has been so rewarding and revitalizing! In a few short months I have gone from being a chapter advisor to my alma mater (woohoo @osualphaphi!) to creating new connections and lifelong friendships with Alpha Phis across the country through this role! I encourage anyone and everyone to get involved with Alpha Phi!
Courtney Chaffin (Iota Gamma-University of the Pacific)
Digital Marketing Specialist
I feel so fortunate to have joined the Alpha Phi Foundation team this year! My favorite memory thus far has been collaborating with all of my amazing colleagues and having the opportunity to meet them for the first time. I am excited to grow in my role and continue Celebrating with Heart!
Alex Goodman (Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority)
Grants and Scholarships Manager
My favorite Foundation memory from this past year was celebrating University of Pennsylvania as our 2022 Heart to Heart Grant recipient in Philadelphia!
Sarah Rayman (Epsilon Alpha-Ashland)
Development Data Manager
My favorite Foundation memory from this past year has been continuing to develop strong, professional and personal relationships with my colleagues and receiving mentorships from my managers!
Angela DiMuzio (Iota Alpha-Pepperdine)
Director of Development
Where do I start! From celebrating 150 years of sisterhood at Convention to working together on the conclusion of the historic Leading With Heart campaign to having a surprise baby shower for the newest member of our Alpha Phi Foundation family, I am grateful to look back on this year with the Foundation. Here’s to another year of advancing women’s lives through the power of philanthropy together!
Ashley Welch (Theta Nu-Appalachian State University)
One of my favorite Foundation memories this year was being able to overlap my work hat and volunteer hat at Leadership Conference this year in Dallas. Alpha Phi has been a huge part of my life and I am thankful my passion for the fraternity and the foundation have been able to merge!
Abby Coogan (Delta Eta-Adrian College)
Chapter Giving Coordinator
I have loved getting to meet with chapters and teach them about philanthropy! It has been so incredible to talk with them leading up to their events and then see all their handwork paying off as they achieve and surpass their goals!
We have had so much fun celebrating our birthday with all of you! We put together a few more ways you can Celebrate with Heart as we commemorate 67 years of advancing women’s lives.
Make a Gift!
Every gift makes an impact, no matter the size! Your support today is as critical as it was on the day of our founding. Now is the time to honor our past, make an impact on the present, and ensure the future for Alpha Phi. Give a gift to provide the support and opportunities needed to advance women’s lives today and for years to come.
One thing we love about our anniversary is reflecting on the fun memories made in our effort to make a difference in the lives of women. Join us on social media on April 15th to share your favorite Alpha Phi Foundation memories!
Tell a Sister!
What’s a birthday party without our sisters!? Invite your sisters to celebrate the day with you and Alpha Phis around the world. Tell them what Alpha Phi Foundation means to you and encourage them to Celebrate with Heart to secure a bright and bold future for Alpha Phi.
Alpha Phi Foundation would like to thank you for celebrating our birthday with us this week! This milestone does not belong to us alone, but to you and our generous supporters from the last 67 years. Your commitment to Alpha Phi will make a difference in the lives of our sisters and women around the globe today and beyond! Thank you for Celebrating with Heart!
