We’re shining a spotlight on 225 phenomenal Alpha Phis who inspire their communities and are leaders in innovation, character, and generosity.

Throughout Women’s History Month, we shared these Alpha Phi Features on our Instagram Story. Dr. Whipple was the first Alpha Phi to study medicine. She received her medical degree in 1884.

A three-sport varsity athlete, Joan is regarded as one of the finest all-around female athletes of Roanoke College. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1984.
